On Sunday, 6 October 2013, in the evening at 18:30, in Ignalinos district municipality, on the Didžiasalis–Navikai–Vosiūnai regional road (kilometre 2), a Volkswagen Sharan rolled over. One person died — a 40-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (later died from the injuries, was not wearing a seatbelt). The accident was caused by the 29-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who committed other traffic rule violations and failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
