On Friday, 28 February 2014, at night at 1:50, in Rietavo municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 255.70), a Volvo FH12 registered in Belarus ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the driver of the Volvo (a citizen of Belarus) (1 year of driving experience), who fell asleep at the wheel. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 110 km/h.
