On Sunday, 16 March 2014, at night at around 23:00, in Pasvalio district municipality, on the Panevėžys–Pasvalys–Ryga main road (kilometre 57.40), a Scania registered in Poland ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 42-year-old driver of the Scania (a citizen of Estonia) (20 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.58‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
