On Monday, 21 April 2014, in the afternoon at 13:42, in Šiaulių district municipality, Gilaičių village, on Draugystės street, at the junction with Gilaičių street, at a yard or parking-lot exit, a collision with a reversing vehicle occurred. The collision involved an Opel Zafira and a Subaru Forester. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 56-year-old driver of the Opel (38 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
