On Tuesday, 20 May 2014, at night at 2:30, in Zarasų district municipality, on Donelaičio street near No. 49, an Audi 100 Avant hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 28-year-old driver of the Audi (5 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (0.99‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, it was raining, the road surface was wet.
