On Saturday, 31 May 2014, in the evening at 22:37, in Vilniaus district municipality, on the Vilnius–Šumskas national road (kilometre 10), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The accident was caused by a 27-year-old cart driver, who committed other traffic rule violations, committed cart driving or herding animals at night or in poor visibility without lights, committed cart driving at night or in poor visibility without reflectors on the cart or sleigh and committed cart driving, riding or herding animals at night or in poor visibility without a hi-vis reflective vest. He was drunk (3.39‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
