On Tuesday, 17 June 2014, in the afternoon at 16:45, in Kaunas, on Jonavos street near No. 53, a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a Seat Toledo and an Audi Q7. One person died — a 88-year-old passenger of the Seat (later died from the injuries). Two people were injured — the 18-year-old driver of the Seat (severely injured, hospitalized) and the 43-year-old driver of the Audi (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 18-year-old driver of the Seat (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
