On Monday, 7 July 2014, at night at 0:45, in Vilnius, on Kalvarijų street, at the junction with Upės street, a Volkswagen Passat hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 36-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized). The accident was caused by a 36-year-old pedestrian, who was crossing the carriageway outside a crossing where there are vehicle or pedestrian barriers. He was drunk (3.40‰ blood alcohol). The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
