On Monday, 14 July 2014, at night at 1:15, in Alytaus district municipality, on the Alytus–Simnas–Kalvarija national road (kilometre 19.50), a Mazda 323 rolled over. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 45-year-old driver of the Mazda, who committed other traffic rule violations and failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
