On Wednesday, 20 August 2014, in the evening at 20:02, in Jonavos district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta d. pusė) main road (kilometre 35.33), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Mitsubishi Grandis registered in Latvia and a Peugeot 206. Two people were injured — the 47-year-old driver of the Peugeot (hospitalized) and a 56-year-old passenger of the Peugeot (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 41-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi (a citizen of Latvia) (18 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
