On Thursday, 11 September 2014, in the evening at 20:42, in Šiaulių district municipality, on the Šiauliai–Gruzdžiai–Naujoji Akmenė national road (kilometre 15.76), a Ford Mondeo rolled over. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 21-year-old driver of the Ford, who committed other traffic rule violations and failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.31‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
