On Friday, 28 November 2014, in the evening at around 20:00, in Prienų district municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai main road (kilometre 33.65), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Passat and a Passat T registered in Latvia. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (2.11‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 100 km/h.
