On Sunday, 14 December 2014, at night at 1:45, in Kauno district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 88.20), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a BMW 750 and a Mazda 6. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 32-year-old driver of the BMW (14 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.34‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident it was dark, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 100 km/h.
