On Sunday, 25 January 2015, in the evening at 21:18, in Širvintų district municipality, on the Vilnius–Panevėžys (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 50.20), a Skoda Octavia registered in Latvia hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 33-year-old driver of the Skoda (14 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, there was fog, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 110 km/h.
