On Monday, 16 February 2015, in the afternoon at 14:30, in Prienų district municipality, on the Kaunas–Prienai–Alytus national road (kilometre 19.50), a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved an Opel Zafira, a Volvo S60 and a Toyota Avensis. One person was injured — a 9-year-old passenger of the Toyota (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 23-year-old driver of the Opel (6 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. All drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
