On Sunday, 1 March 2015, in the evening at around 18:00, in Zarasų district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis main road (kilometre 182.94), at a pedestrian crossing, a vehicle hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by an unidentified person, who failed to keep a safe distance. He fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
