On Saturday, 7 March 2015, at night at 23:23, in Akmenės district municipality, on the Užventis–Tryškiai–Viekšniai national road (kilometre 38), a Mazda 6 hit an obstacle. Three people were injured — a 22-year-old passenger of the Mazda (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt), a 21-year-old passenger of the Mazda (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt) and a 19-year-old passenger of the Mazda (severely injured, hospitalized, was not wearing a seatbelt). The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the Mazda (1 year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.16‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident it was twilight, the weather was clear, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
