On Thursday, 23 April 2015, at night at 0:30, in Kalvarijos municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai main road (kilometre 79), a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved a Scania R420 registered in Poland, a Kaessbohrer STS32 registered in Poland, a Schmitz SCS 24, an Opel Zafira and a Scania R 114 LA. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 43-year-old driver of the Scania R420 (a citizen of Poland) (24 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance and failed to choose a safe speed. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 80 km/h.
