On Saturday, 23 May 2015, in the evening at around 20:00, in Šilutės district municipality, on Laisvės street, at the junction with Piliakalnio street, a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a Jeep Cherokee and a Renault Laguna. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 53-year-old driver of the Jeep (19 years of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations and failed to give way when crossing an intersection. He was drunk (2.43‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
