On Friday, 12 June 2015, in the evening at 18:11, in Telšių district municipality, on the Telšiai–Varniai–Laukuva national road (kilometre 4.40), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved an Opel Zafira, a Mitsubishi Outlander, a Ford C-MAX and a Volkswagen Transporter. Three people were injured — a 26-year-old passenger of the Ford (treated as an outpatient), a 4-year-old passenger of the Mitsubishi (treated as an outpatient) and a 1-year-old passenger of the Mitsubishi (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 46-year-old driver of the Opel (28 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance and failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.32‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
