On Sunday, 19 July 2015, in the morning at 7:44, in Trakų district municipality, on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas main road (kilometre 19), a Volkswagen Golf ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 18-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.02‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
