On Sunday, 30 August 2015, in the evening at 17:31, in Plungės district municipality, on the Mažeikiai–Plungė–Tauragė national road (kilometre 55.95), a collision with a motorcycle occurred. The collision involved a Suzuki GS 500 and a Hyundai Santa FE. Two people died — the 20-year-old driver of the Suzuki and a 30-year-old passenger of the Suzuki. The accident was caused by the 20-year-old driver of the Suzuki (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He had no driving licence. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
