On Thursday, 12 November 2015, in the morning at 7:40, in Šilutės district municipality, on Dariaus ir Girėno street near No. 12, a Renault Laguna hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. Two people were injured — a 13-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized) and a 7-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 25-year-old driver of the Renault (2 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties and failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
