On Sunday, 15 November 2015, in the morning at 6:30, in Širvintų district municipality, on the Kieliai–Avižonys–Šiauliai regional road (kilometre 3.81), a Volkswagen Golf ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 21-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
