On Monday, 28 December 2015, in the evening at 17:50, in Marijampolės municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai main road (kilometre 56), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a DAF FT XF105.460T, a Schmitz Cargobull and a Temsa Opalin 7.6. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 42-year-old driver of the DAF (16 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (2.35‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
