On Friday, 8 January 2016, in the evening at around 17:00, in Šiauliai, on Gytarių street near No. 16, in a yard, a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved a Mercedes-Benz Vito 111 and a Dodge Grand Caravan. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 59-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (41 years of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations and failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 20 km/h.
