On Friday, 5 February 2016, at night at around 4:00, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta k. pusė) main road (kilometre 11.61), a Renault Premium registered in Poland ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 41-year-old driver of the Renault (18 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 80 km/h.
