On Monday, 8 February 2016, in the evening at around 18:00, in Kauno district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 117.60), an Opel Vectra hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 48-year-old driver of the Opel (30 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
