On Sunday, 20 March 2016, in the evening at 18:16, in Kelmės district municipality, on the Varniai–Karklėnai–Pašilė–Vejos regional road (kilometre 13.40), a Volkswagen Passat rolled over. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 24-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.48‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
