On Saturday, 26 March 2016, in the evening at 17:30, in Šakių district municipality, Liepalotų village, on Mokyklos street near No. 1, a traffic accident occurred. The accident involved a tractor. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 78-year-old driver of a tractor (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance and failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 20 km/h.
