On Monday, 9 May 2016, in the evening at 19:50, in Elektrėnų municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 37), a Volkswagen Passat hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 38-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (15 years of driving experience), who exceeded the speed set by traffic rules or road signs. He was drunk (2.60‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 120 km/h.
