On Monday, 9 May 2016, in the afternoon at 14:21, in Kalvarijos municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai main road (kilometre 93.21), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volvo FH, a LAG 0-3-39 registered in Poland, a Klaeser, a Schmitz SCS 24 registered in Poland, a Schmitz SCS 24/L registered in Poland, a DAF FT XF95 registered in Poland, a Volvo FH registered in Poland, an Iveco Stralis registered in Poland and a Skoda Roomster. One person was injured — the 26-year-old driver of the Iveco (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 48-year-old driver of the Volvo FH (29 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance and failed to choose a safe speed. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 80 km/h.
