On Thursday, 9 June 2016, in the evening at 22:49, in Varėnos district municipality, Rakų village, on Draugystės street near No. 24, an Audi A4 Avant hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 26-year-old driver of the Audi (less than a year of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations and failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry.
