On Monday, 13 June 2016, at night at 23:52, in Mažeikių district municipality, on the Mažeikiai–Plungė–Tauragė national road (kilometre 8.26), a Toyota hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by a 37-year-old pedestrian, who committed traffic rule violations that contributed to the accident and was walking at night without reflectors (light, hi-vis vest). She was drunk (2.88‰ blood alcohol). The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry.
