On Thursday, 7 July 2016, in the morning at 5:30, in Kaunas, on Baltijos street near No. 2A, at the junction with Žemaičių pl., a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved a Mercedes-Benz E 400 CDI and a bus. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 20-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (2 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. He was drunk (1.51‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
