On Saturday, 23 July 2016, in the afternoon at around 14:00, in Neringos municipality, on the Smiltynė–Nida national road (kilometre 6), a Land Rover hit an animal. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 62-year-old driver of the Land Rover (20 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober.
