On Friday, 22 July 2016, in the evening at 17:34, in Biržų district municipality, on the Kupiškis–Vabalninkas–Biržai national road (kilometre 47), a BMW 530 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 38-year-old driver of a Massey Ferguson 4270A, who failed to give way when changing direction. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
