On Saturday, 20 August 2016, in the evening at around 21:00, in Klaipėda, on Šiaulių street near No. 5, a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved a Volvo 850 registered in Sweden and a BMW. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 63-year-old driver of the Volvo (32 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA).
