On Sunday, 28 August 2016, in the evening at 21:50, in Kauno district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 117), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Seat Alhambra, a Volkswagen Passat, a Dodge Caravan and a Seat Leon. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 26-year-old driver of the Seat Alhambra (8 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. All drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
