On Sunday, 28 August 2016, in the evening at 21:29, in Šilalės district municipality, Vabalų village, a VAZ 21063 rolled over. Two people were injured — the 29-year-old driver of the VAZ (treated as an outpatient) and a 28-year-old passenger of the VAZ (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 29-year-old driver of the VAZ, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (3.97‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
