On Sunday, 28 August 2016, in the evening at 19:39, in Akmenės district municipality, on the Papilė–Draginiai–Žarėnai–Dauginčiai regional road (kilometre 2), an Opel Frontera rolled over. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 21-year-old driver of the Opel, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.41‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. A 23-year-old passenger of the Opel was drunk (2.68‰). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
