On Wednesday, 28 September 2016, at night at 23:15, in Šakių district municipality, Lekėčių town, on Kauno street near No. 1, a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Peugeot 306, a Mitsubishi Colt, a Volkswagen Passat and an Audi A3. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 16-year-old driver of the Peugeot, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. All drivers were sober. The 19-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, there was fog, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
