On Wednesday, 5 October 2016, in the afternoon at 16:45, in Kauno district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 95.20), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved an Opel Vectra and a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 208 CDI. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 23-year-old driver of the Opel (5 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 80 km/h.
