On Monday, 24 October 2016, in the afternoon at 12:30, in Panevėžio district municipality, on the Anykščiai–Troškūnai–Panevėžys national road (kilometre 54.50), an Opel Vectra-B-Caravan hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 37-year-old driver of the Opel (17 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (3.60‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
