On Monday, 21 November 2016, in the evening at 17:25, in Anykščių district municipality, Šovenių village, on Budrių street, a Yamaha XT 600 hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 61-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 23-year-old driver of the Yamaha (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
