On Saturday, 26 November 2016, in the afternoon at around 12:00, in Biržų district municipality, on the Papilys–Kvetkai–Vanaginė regional road (kilometre 1.52), a Volkswagen Touran registered in Norway ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 32-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to choose a safe speed. She was drunk (2.75‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
