On Tuesday, 29 November 2016, in the morning at around 7:00, in Kauno district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 89), a Renault Laguna hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 55-year-old driver of the Renault (21 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was snowing, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 110 km/h.
