On Saturday, 10 December 2016, at night at 3:10, in Telšių district municipality, on the Telšiai–Lieplaukė–Plungė regional road (kilometre 2.30), a Volkswagen Bora ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 50-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (2 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was snowing, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
