On Wednesday, 21 December 2016, in the evening at 17:30, in Elektrėnų municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 50), a Volvo FH12 registered in Belarus ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 47-year-old driver of the Volvo (30 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
