On Sunday, 25 December 2016, in the morning at 5:13, in Šilalės district municipality, Stungaičių village, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 234.53), a Seat Alhambra rolled over. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 23-year-old driver of the Seat (5 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.32‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 110 km/h.
